One Year to Go to the Olympic 'Invasion' Where the biggest race following the games will be to avoid the inevitable Bed Bug infestation that will happen in London and then UK Gil Gingell of Blitz Bed Bugs says, "over the past six years or more we have seen a dramatic increase in bed bug infestation globally. New York's infestation is so bad it is now being described as the Bug Apple. Not only are many of New York's hotels effected, 5 star hotels have been infested and are being sued, many commercial offices are infested, a floor in the UN building was closed for fumigation, the Empire State Building, the Lincoln Centre, Broadway theatres, public transport and several flagship retailers in Manhattan have reported infestation. The list is endless Bed Bugs are now a threat to America's $30 billion tourism industry One of the world's leading entomologists Gil Bloom, a former member of Mayor Bloomberg's Bed Bug Advisory Board - yes the bed bug epidemic in the Bug Apple is so bad the mayor has formed an Advisory Board to debate the problem - says "The goal of bed bug elimination should be replaced by the more realistic one of achieving bed bug control". I don't fully agree with this statement; with new products it is possible to eradicate Bed Bugs but first control them using advanced products not synthetic insecticides which are becoming ineffective. Control or eradication of Bed Bugs will not be achieved if we depend on conventional synthetic insecticides they need to give way to modern products that are proven to work. We all know what ever happens in America will soon happen in the UK, and as has been proven, Bed Bugs are the world's best hitchhikers bed bugs are coming our way so protect your homes and your businesses now! In the recent past, airlines have grounded aircraft due to infestations and the suggestion is that next year's London Olympics will bring a bed bug pandemic to the UK. Of particular concern is the fact that Bed Bugs are becoming resistant to conventional synthetic insecticides, this is not the case with Blitz Bed bug Spray which is based on natural plant extract. Blitz was tested by the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and was found to be 100% successful within a maximum 48 hours of treatment. More importantly it kills 72% of bugs, within a maximum of 48 hours that come in to contact with a treated surface. Dr Nigel Hill, the past head of entomology at The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, concluded that "Blitz which is based on natural plant extract and doesn't contain conventional synthetic insecticides will prove beneficial against insecticide resistant populations commonly found in Europe & the US" In the UK, over recent years, particularly badly affected has been our Hotels, B&B's and Guest Houses, this will only get worse. The main cause of the global infestation of bed bugs is increased travel and general mobility of the world's population Prior to the 2000 Olympic Games Sydney didn't have a bed bug problem but now it is reported that many hotel in Sydney had signs of infestation following the 2000 Olympic Games, highlighting the fact that this is truly a global issue. It has also been reported that because the Sydney bed bug issue was not immediately dealt with over 80% of all hotels and short term accommodation in Australia has at least one infested room! Since the Sydney Olympics in 2000, the number of cases of reported Bed Bug infestations in Australia has risen by 15,000 per cent. This will happen in London next year! Unlike the Olympics which is a one off experience that will come and go the imported bed bugs will stay and multiple rapidly. The prediction is what happened in Sydney will happen to London and then the UK where the biggest race following the 2012 Olympics will be to avoid the inevitable Bed Bug infestation in London and then the UK and the Mayor of London will also need to appoint a Bed Bug czar London and then the UK will be one big uncontrollable Bed Bug infestation as London plays host to 11,000 athletes from 205 countries, 20,000 representatives of the world's media and over 9 Million spectators from every country around the world; and then there's the Paralympics! Over 120,000 hotel bedrooms could become the targeted resting place for travel weary bed bugs, this will be their control centre before they infest the very fabric of the UK infrastructure which will include, trains, busses, the underground, theatres, cinemas and shops they are not fussy. In fact anywhere you sit or stand next to someone you can be instrumental in the spread of the pandemic. Bedbugs are the world's best hitchhikers and these unwanted guests will be carried to London by unknowingly by attendees. It is forecast that the bed bug explosion will be of epidemic proportion in Britain created by the millions of bed bugs expected to be transported in the clothing and luggage of people travelling to the 2012 Olympics Who should be concerned: LOCOG - because the Olympic village will be infested Airlines Airports authorities Train companies Bus companies Hotels and accommodation providers including casual rented accommodation Entertainment venues including but not limited to theatres, cinemas etc Retail establishments of all kinds Visitor attractions of all kinds A Bed bug infestation is very easy to acquire, and very difficult to eradicate They can be transferred to and from anywhere where you can sit or lay or stand next to someone in a crowded place.. Bed Bug rate of transfer is dramatic which puts at risk are our Hotels, B&B's and Guest Houses. Bed Bugs will live happily on trains, in theatres, cinemas and even high street shop any public place where transportation, your clothing, and a blood meal is available to them is a place where Bed Bugs will hide away. Wherever people exist, Bed Bugs can find a potential carrier particularly where they sit or lie down. Once infested with Bed Bugs it can be extraordinary difficult to eradicate them, this can be particularly true for the hospitality sector where traditional pest control companies close off occupancy to undertake fumigation. So prevention is better than a cure, it is also about education we at Blitz work with a number of hotels and bed & breakfast establishments helping them to protect against infestations. Our product can be use whilst the rooms are being occupies, there is no requirement to isolate rooms until the fumigation clears, no white vans in the car park. Blitz comes ready to use in a spray bottle. A number of our customers in the hotel sector use Blitz as a part of their cleaning regime. A bed bug infestation could destroy businesses, this is preventable. The blitz team also work closely with our customers to solve their problem, bed bugs are tricky to eradicate but with Blitz Bed Bugs Spray and a meticulous and consistent effort they can be eliminate."
